Brainbox started in 1969 when Kaz Lux is asked by Akkerman and Van der Linden to form a band together. As a bass player they recruit Andre Reynen.
The band plays a sort of progressive bluesy rock. In 1969 they score big hits with the singles Down Man and Summertime. That year was the release of Brainbox' debut album, called Brainbox.

This Summertime-single was the start of my collection Summertime recordings.

Summertime

"Summertime" is the name of an aria composed by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward and Ira Gershwin. A popular jazz standard.

An international group of collectors of recordings of Summertime known as "The Summertime Connection," knows of at least 18,379 public performances, of which 12,688 have been recorded. Of those, the group has 7,647 full recordings and about 1,100 samples and incomplete recordings in its collection. (May 15, 2007)
