"Summertime" is the name of an aria composed by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward and Ira Gershwin. A popular jazz standard.
An international group of collectors of recordings of Summertime known as "The Summertime Connection," knows of at least 18,379 public performances, of which 12,688 have been recorded.
